Charles John Huffam Dickens was one of the most popular English novelist of the Victorian era. Dickens began writing Christmas Carol in October 1843. He finished it in the end of November 1843. Dickens financed the publishing of the book himself. A Christmas Carol has become a Christmas tradition and Dickens' best known book. This Story associated sentimental connection with Christmas Time.
A Christmas Carol Story has many movie versions. The first comes from 1938. But I have seen two other versions. The first was Disney´s version - Mickey's Christmas Carol from 1983. It was directed by Burny Mattinson and it is 25 minutes long. And the second version of this traditional Christmas story that I have seen was the version from 1971 – A Christmas Carol. This version is from director Richard Williams. Both films are animated and very famous. But shorter movie from Williams is more famous. It is because this movie won an Academy Awards Oscar in category Best Short Subject and Animated Films of Year in 1972.
William´s version won Oscar, but my favorite is version from Disney Studio. In a grotesque from Disney are my favourite animated characters. There are Donald Duck as rejected nephew Fred, Mickey Mouse as poor Bob Cratchit, Goofy as disabused Jacob Marlezs Ghost, Scrooge McDuck as almost himself into role Ebenezer Scrooge and Daisy Duck as voice of Belle. I love this feature. I see really lots of cartoons with this characters when i was a young boy. It is the first time when in the cartoon appeared character of Tiny Tim – he is a classic Dickens’ character, a portrait of the wise child who will soon exit the Earth. And what is this cartoon about?
A Christmas Carol is a Victorian morality tale. Ebenezer Scrooge is a really very big scrooge. He never cares about the people around him. And he exists only for the money. On Christmas Eve visit Ebenezer Scrooge ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley. He died seven years ago.He tells Scrooge that he will be haunted by three spirits. And it really happened. These three spirits, the ghosts of Christmas past, Christmas present, and Christmas future. This Spirits wish only one thing - show Ebenezer Scrooge errors of his life.
Ebenezer Scrooge is totally scared. Now he sees everything bad what happened about all his life. He sees each of many mistakes what he did. And it is not a good view. He promises that he will be good man and that he will give a hand to everyone now. He started promtly. Christmas morning finding Scrooge sending a Christmas turkey to his clerk Bob Cratchit and assist his family, which includes Cratchit´s crippled son, Tiny Tim. Everything has good end.
Classical Christmas Carol from 1971 has same story like later Mickey's Christmas Carol. I think that version from Disney studio is more merrier then William´s version. Mickey's Christmas Carol is better for Christmas Time because there is nothing so depressive like in William´s movie. William´s version is grizzle too. Grotesque from Disney is more coloured and more happy. In this version are nice characters too.
